I highly recommend “Beyond Survival: Strategies and Stories from the Social Justice Movement.”

Rarely do I read a book I can't put down until it's finished. I read all 325ish pages ravenously and can't recommend it enough.

This anthology by Leah Lakshmi Piepzna-Samarasinha and Ejeris Dixon provides both foundational principles and stories of what practice, lived experience, and trauma-sensitive mindfulness looks like in Transformative justice work. I appreciated the strong theme to experiment, reflect, make and learn from mistakes, and seek community healing in the practice. At its core, the message I got was that everything doesn't need a process, but everything is a process by nature, and TJ work is holding the complexity of generative conflict, community accountability, and radical healing and trust-building strategies at the same time.

Awesome book! All the thumbs up. Totally recommend!
